Renewing playground. In connection with the "Main Street of the Hegyvidék" program, the renovation of the playground on Hollósy Simon Street begins, so it closes its gates for a while. Within the framework of the development the green space will be renewed, a community garden will be re-built, and unique games will be created that evoke the outstanding architectural and industrial history of the reform era. The main attractions will be play equipment modelled on the Chain Bridge, the first steamboat of Lake Balaton, the Kisfaludy steamer and the cog railway, which was opened in 1874.

 

Nostalgia trams start to run. The range of nostalgia trams in the capital has been extended with other trams in Buda. In addition to the N19, which runs from Deák Ferenc Square every weekend, the old trams will also be on the run once a month, marked N18, between Szent János Hospital and Csóka Street. During the summer, on 9 July and 13 August (Saturdays), we can get on the curiosities-counted electric cars on the N18 line.

 

Cardiological screening. On July 2, and then on August 6 (Saturdays) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., circulatory disease screenings can be taken at the Városmajor Clinic of Semmelweis University (68 Városmajor St.). The experts of the program, implemented in cooperation with the Hegyvidék Municipality, the SZÍVSN National Patient Association and the clinic, will measure blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and performs ECG tests as well. Tests are performed on an empty stomach. Pre-registration is required to participate, on working days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can register by calling +36-20/825-8084.

 

Prom on the terrace of the Salon. Free classical music and jazz concerts await the audience in the City Hall Square, in the area in front of the Hegyvidék Cultural Salon from 19:00. As part of the Musical Budapest program series, the Campanelli Chimes Ensemble will perform on 30 June, the Capriccio String Quartet on 7 July, and on 14 July József Fritz (clarinet) and Pál Gáspár (banjo, vocals) playing swing music. On Saturdays from 10.30 to 12.30, visitors can take part in interactive instrument shows and fairy-tale concerts.

 

Silent films with piano accompaniment. A series of silent films will be launched at the Lóvasút Cultural and Event Centre (64 Zugligeti Rd) on July 5, at 7 p.m., the romantic drama The Temptress (1926) will be shown, starring Greta Garbo. The cinemafilm is accompanied by Miklós Dániel Répászky on piano. Entry is free of charge, but registration tickets must be purchased on the lovasut.jegy.hu page.

 

Movies in English. The animated family comedy Minions: The Rise of Gru will be shown at CinemaMOM (53 Alkotás St.) from 30 June, and the superhero film Thor: Love and Thunder from 6 July.

 

Ron Carter Foursight. Jazz legend Ron Carter steps on MOMkult (18 Csörsz St.) stage on July 5 at 8 p.m. The 85-year-old jazz bassist played with some of the world's best-known musicians during his career, including Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Benson, James Brown and Stan Getz. He was a member of Miles Davis' legendary Classic Quartet for five years. This time he will play with his own quartet, Foursight, Renee Rosnes on piano, Jimmy Greene on tenor saxophone and Payton Crossley on drums.

 

Musical poems. The musical poems of Samuel Beckett, Dezső Tandori, Yves Cantraine, Lajos Kassák in German, French, English and Hungarian can be heard in the performance of Albert Márkos, cellist, composer and a singer arriving as a surprise guest on 8 July from 7 p.m. at the Hegyvidék Cultural Salon (2 Törpe St.). Entry is free of charge.
